These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FMS Detective application ("the App") provided by Samuel Rulon-Miller, doing business as FMS Detective ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal or internal business purposes, subject to these Terms and an active paid subscription. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, or reverse engineer the App or any part of it.
FMS Detective requires a paid annual subscription ($100/year) for use. Each subscription entitles one individual user to install and use the App.
FMS Detective offers a 7-day free trial. You may evaluate the full functionality of the App during the trial period at no cost. If you do not purchase a subscription before the trial ends, your access to the App will be suspended.
All payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy, LLC), our merchant of record. When you purchase a subscription, you are agreeing to Lemon Squeezy's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy in addition to these Terms. Lemon Squeezy handles all billing, invoicing, sales tax, and payment processing on our behalf.
Because a 7-day free trial is provided, all sales are final. No refunds will be issued for subscription purchases or renewals. We encourage you to fully evaluate the App during your free trial before purchasing.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each annual billing period. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Lemon Squeezy account. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to the App until the end of your current billing period.
If your subscription expires or is not renewed, your license to use the App is suspended. You may reactivate your subscription at any time to restore access. No log data or local settings are deleted when a subscription lapses.
FMS Detective is a native macOS application that parses, visualizes, and analyzes FileMaker Server log files. The App provides:
All log file processing occurs entirely on your local machine. No log data, file contents, or analysis results are transmitted to our servers or any third party. We do not collect, store, or have access to the log files you analyze.
When you use the optional FileMaker Server Admin API integration, the App connects directly from your machine to your FileMaker Server. These connections are made exclusively between your computer and your server — we are not an intermediary and do not receive any data from these connections.
If you choose to connect the App to a FileMaker Server via the Admin API:
The App is designed to work with FileMaker Server as published by Claris International Inc. Changes by Claris to the FileMaker product may affect the App's functionality. We do not guarantee compatibility with all past or future versions of FileMaker Server. While we intend to update the App to accommodate such changes, we are not obligated to do so on any particular timeline.
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
The App, including its code, design, graphics, logo, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Samuel Rulon-Miller and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.
FileMaker, FileMaker Server, and related marks are trademarks of Claris International Inc. FMS Detective is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Claris International Inc.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
The analysis and recommendations provided by the App are informational tools to assist with server diagnostics. They should not be relied upon as the sole basis for production decisions. Always validate findings against your server environment.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall FMS Detective, its developers, or contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, profits, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.
The App requires a supported version of macOS. We are not responsible for any issues arising from use on unsupported operating systems or hardware configurations.
We may release updates to the App from time to time. While we strive to maintain backward compatibility, updates may change features, supported log formats, or system requirements. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of any changes.
We may terminate or suspend your license to use the App at any time, for any reason, without prior notice. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and destroy any copies in your possession.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
